At UAB Pediatric Dentistry, we strive to provide families with comprehensive, high-quality oral health care led by certified or board-eligible board members. Dr. Jackson, associate professor of DMD, pediatric dentistry, and director of dentistry at UAB, is also the director of the Pediatric Dentistry Residency Program at UAB. The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD) recommends that children visit the dentist before their first birthday or within six months after the first baby tooth appears.
Mitchell, DMD, associate master's professor, director of pediatric dentistry, and predoctoral pediatric dentistry at UAB, is part of the teaching staff of the Department of Pediatric Dentistry. They also serve private patients in the Office of the Faculty of Pediatrics of the UAB Dentistry Group. The Children's of Alabama Dental Clinic is a teaching clinic where dentists are trained to become specialists in pediatric dentistry in partnership with the University of Alabama School of Dentistry.
